Extending a mirrored volume

I have a 5 disk stripe mirrored(1,0). I successfully broke the mirrors of the volumes I wanted to free up. I want to take the unallocated space and add it to an existing mirrored volume. I have the space needed to create a mirrored volume, I just can't add it to the already created one. Am I missing something here?
