Is there a method that would allow a DS30 module to bed located for example in another part of a building. Boosting the signal from the control units Exp port father than the short length of the standard shielded blue patch cable.

Adding a signal booster to get the signal to a remote location.

Nortel MICS use to be able to do this with their DS modules by using a Citel fiber extender module.

Maybe a.Media Converter?

If anyone has, they have never said how.

So your options are extending the phone cabling somehow or adding another IP500 control unit and setup an SCN.

I used a 7 foot cord once to reach a digital 30 and we had all kinds of problems. they are only designed to use the Blue cable that comes with them. I have not seen or heard of anyone getting this to work in almost 20 years.

I would suggest IP phones. You can put them as far away as you like as long as you have a data connection.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.*

On the Nortel Norstar's they used a MCK Modular Extender. This is a fiber connection between the local and remote sites.
They may have a converter that will work with expansions. Haven't tried it but may be worth investigating.

Remember that although they have an RJ45 port they aren't actually Ethernet.

A digital phone should work thousands of feet of cable away from the DS30.

What problem are you experiencing that you're trying to solve exactly?

The problem with getting licenses for example to expand a system for scn is that unlike Nortel Avaya for some reason does not like legacy platforms and I believe anything under 10.0 additional licenses cannot be purchased and therefore the site has to spend money to first do and upgrade.

Nortel used to provide licensing for all sorts of their platforms going way back the 1990s up until the time they discontinued all support.

I wonder why Avaya only supports the last one or two software revisions since they've got so many tens of thousands of older systems in service.
