Guys,

Any body knows a way to extend a an lv with an fs already mounted. a simple lvextend requires to umount the files systems first, any other workaround?

Thanks

The only other workaround I know is to get Advanced Online JFS -- which costs money.

As mentioned above... OnlineJFS is the tool to have.
If you don't have OnlineJFS installed, and it's a
filesystem where mounting can be delayed at next boot,
you can write a script that will do the lvextend/extendfs
before that FS is mounted on the next boot.
(That's dependant on which fs you need extended, however)

If the filesystem is in the root VG, you can always make an
ignite tape, boot the machine from the tape, and change the
filesystem size from there.

There is no tool other than OnlineJFS, that I know of, that
will let you do this the "easy way". Sorry.

Can I extend the fs onlline as well?

with advanced online jfs, yes.
