Is there any means or possibility of importing or converting word form to access form. Best yet using word form as a data entry form and access as a database.

Thanks for your help.

Sure you can use a word for as an entry form. Here is an example:

There are several ways to do this depending on how you want to interact with the DB. Do you want the db open and have it launch the form? Do you just want to enter data in a form and never open the DB?

Provide a little more detail on exactly how you want to do this.

Thank you very much.

What I want the db open and have it launch the word form and then to enter data in a form and never open the DB. OR to enter data in a form and never open the DB. The attached is the word form that I am talking about. Any solution to this. Please help.

You can do what you want. Fill out a word form and then without opening the DB then have a procedure in the form that you can select to add a record to a database. Or do it the other way where you are in the DB and click on a form to import. What is preferred? If you want a demo pick one because the coding is different.

The question is how good is your vba. We can provide you the general code and a demo to do the following
1)connect the form to the database through ADO
2)Show how to read data from fields and insert records into a table

But the specifics of putting all the correct data in the correct field will have to be up to you. It would require a detail understanding of your database structure to do anything more.

A bit of caution, because survey data always makes me nervous. Although it often looks like a simple survey, survey database design can be extremely difficult to normalize the table structures. Survey db's can have very complicated relationships and most people get it wrong.

many people to many questions
many questions to many answers
many tests to many questions
etc.

Just qestion 15 could be very difficult to design. You could get a very complicated many to many to many to many relationship.

So I would not yet worry on pushing the data from a form into the DB. That will not be overly complicated if you can get your tables correct. Making the connection and insert a record will not be that complicated. Having the correct table design into which to insert it will be complicated. Once you have your tables set up, then you will probably tweak your question design and answers to better support your data structure. Do not be a slave to the form, but design the questions and form to support data entry.

So the question is, if a general demo is enough to get you started? If not you will need to finish your database and see if you can manually add records into your db. Then if it makes sense, you will have to post your db and the proposed form.

Thank you very much. I decided to stick to access form rather than word
