Hi All,

MAS/MSS MM5.2.1

I am wondering if voicemail recordings left by external parties in the mailboxes can be exported and listened to in an audio player , can anybody advise if this is possible (i believe the recordings are proprietary format) and if it is the process and file destination of recordings.

Thank you in advance

I am using outlook 2010 for my emails, I can have the mss send me email notification of voice mail as a wave file. This way I can hear my vm on pc and then I can save it to my pc. I use Windows media player to listen.
Is this what you are asking ?

No but thank you for the response , I am banging my head against a wall here with this customer , they are fully aware IMAP is available to them but they have no outlook clients , it is all web access through portals for email.

So after getting off a chat with Avaya backbone something or other , it transpires that the format of the messages is locked down and only available to Avaya , even if you can get into the MSS they wont tell you what location the messages are stored in ...... so I am going into hack mode , I have access to the MSS cli so im off a hunting, basically I don't like being told something cant be done , when I know dam well it can ... im off to prove them wrong with putty , winscp and audacity along with other helpful tools.[rainbow]

YOu can use an Imap connection on out look express on the MAS

NO offense guys , but your kind of missing the point , this customer has an internally developed secure web only based email system that is accessed from a citrix farm , they have no client applications for email installed on the PC`s , that aside im well aware of how to set up the imap (in my opinion the best option as when you clear the message in outlook the MWI goes out) , i want to access the MSS interrogate the file structure say etc/opt/avaya/mss (that's a total example) , locate where the voicemail audio files are stored and export them with win scp / filezilla etc etc , then i would use audacity to convert the audio file format into something generic .wav , or the like.

Problem is Avaya will not give up the access to the mss , i have found a way round this as xm console from dom 0 did not work for me , i have tweaked some files and can now log in direct with root to the MSS ( i will change this back) , now i just need find where the audio files are stored and im in business.

If you were to find the files you would then need to figure out who they belong to right or do you just want to listen to all of the messages irregardless of who they were intended for?

And you can pull the messages from the offline store on the MAS as well.

NO Ken you are correct , that would be one issue... its a specific mailbox set up for ofcom compliance responses from customers .. so agreed thats one hurdle , talk to me more about the MAS as ive had a poke around but may just be blind and they are hiding in plain site?

you need to look in the VMSC to see if the offline is turned on and if so where the folder is

Even if you were to access the MSS with the root padsword it would still be damn near impossible to get those files off of there. The reason I suggest IMAP was because you can use Outlook express on the windows to 2003 MAS server because you said there was no clients on PCs

It does not matter how many MAS's you have you can config the offline anywhere you want.

Actually the reason i say that is because if it is a single MAS there will not be an offline store only the spool folder.

Again just imap to outlook express on a MAS 2003 server.

Well you can still point the offline store to any server or PC on the network. Even if you only have one MAS you can check it and point it somewhere else.
