While exporting a report to Excel from the ActiveX smart viewer, the exported file is really a mess.
Not just extra columns but lots of extra rows.
This particular report contains several suppressed (group headers and footers) sections.
It seems that Excel is still holding place for them, which is why there are those extra rows.

Does somebody know any work around?

LV: This is a known issue when exporting to Excel. Try to ensure that you have no fields on your report layout which could overlap the righthand margin - this generates the extra lines. You may have to consider revising your layout and/or changing font size etc. to make this OK. There are some references to this in the knowledgebase which you can reach through the Crystal Decisions website at David C. Monks

David,

Thanks for the help.
I've read those articles and tried to follow their
advises, such as: no fields overlapping, use guidlines everywhere, no margin overlapping, ect. but nothing has helped. I'll try, as you said, to play with the report layout and see if it helps.
Thanks again.

When this happpens to me, I just:

1 Highlight the whole spreadsheet with the extra lines
2 Choose Autofilter
3 Go to any column and choose from autofilter - nonblanks.
4 Copy the whole worksheet range that has no blanks
5 Insert a new worksheet
6 Paste in the corrected rows from the old worksheet
7 Delete the old worksheet.

See if this helps.

Dave

Dave,

This sure helps, but I still would like to have the report exported with as less extra lines and columns as possible and not to have a customer edit it after exporting.

Thanks for the help.
