I am using CRW8.5SP3 and Access97.

I am trying to export the report in excel8.0 extended format. When I open the file there is a blank column added to the front of the report. Which has to be deleted every time I open the excel file.

Data wise the report is ok, Report is also fine in the CRW preview. There are no blank columns.

Am I missing any dll files, can you guys please help. Thank you.

The reason that there isn't a blank column in Crystal is because Crystal doesn't have columns.

This is usually because you don't have the column header and field all the way over to the left.

All the column header and fields are aligned using the guidelines from left to right

Move the leftmost guideline all the way to the left, or rather, just move the fields, you don't need guidleines.

If Crystal detects space it will insert a column in Excel, you wouldn't want it always assuming that you'd never want space, so you have to design for export.

Initially, I did not had the guidelines and all the fields were all the way to the left. The report is still showing the data in column B in excel and column A is blank.

Thanks for the prompt response.

In 2003, there was a change in Crystal 8.5 exporting that improved it a great deal. If your export-choice says things like Excel Extended rather than MS Excel 97, then an update may fix it. I assume 'BO' still have them for Crystal 8.5 customers.
