I am using Cr 8.5 exporting the Excel 2000 on XP Pro.

I have a large report which is designed to be exported to Excel, ie it is too wide to print on A4 paper in landscape. I have designed report on Legal paper to give me as much visible design area as possible.

Report runs fine and looks OK on screen however, when I export to Excel I get 10 blank rows between each row of data. Columns are all perfectly aligned

I have put in anchors, both in row and columns, there is no white space between each row. I have only one group, with the header suppressed and a subtotal in the group footer.
Blank rows also appear between detail rows and group footer.
There is no conditional suppression on details or groups.

I have looked in CD knowledgebase and they only talked about blank rows occurring aftr text objects with a font size lees than 7. All my data has a font size of 7. (Tahoma Cenral European)

Any other ideas gratefully received.

Maybe you have out-of-date dlls. I used to have this sort of problem, but it vanished when they did some improvements in 2003. Check whether your Excel export option says MS Excel 97-2000. If it doesn't, get the relevant patches and dlls from Crystal.

Thanks for the pointer, I have searched for excel dlls on the knowledgebase and it only pointed to the latest hot fix, downloaded but made no difference.

When I select export the only excel choices in list are up to Excel 8, I even tried using excel 8 extended this removed the blank rows but also dumped all he headers and any other useful formatting.

Any clues as to where I can find the Excel 2000 dlls.

Sorry, ehere I work the downloads are done by a separate department, so I can't advise. You definitely do have the old stuff, I remember 'excel 8 extended' and you'll find a massive improvement if you can upgrade. You'll also get a version of export to Word that is useable.

I suggest you start a new thread asking for advice on getting dlls downloaded.

Export to Excel 8.0 (extended). The last check box asks if you want the report exported Tabular or Non-Tabular (choose tabular). This should line each item up column by column with no spaces.
