I am running into difficulty exporting from CE 8.5 into excel. I get a lot of extra collumns that have the cells merged with the collumns with the data. I end up with roughly twice the number of collumns I need. this makes for more work for the user when they open the report in excel. They need to eliminate the merge and then delete the extra collumns before they can cut and paste or even sort the data. Is there any way to avoid this. I just spent an hour trying to format the report in a way to prevent this and it does help but does not eliminate the problem.

I just posted information on this in the following thread:

thread782-326285

Here's my comments regarding this specific issue:

Regarding Excel formatting issues, I've run the following tests in my test environment (CE8.5 with ActiveX viewer using ePortfolio):[ol][li]Scheduled a report to format Excel (Data Only). Result = Excel document formatted perfectly to my expectations[/li]

[li]Scheduled a report to format Excel with Export Report Header and Tabular Format checked. Result = Excel document with merged columns[/li]

[li]Scheduled a report to format Excel with Export Report Header checked, Tabular Format unchecked. Result = Excel document with merged columns[/li]

[li]Scheduled a report to format Excel with Export Report Header unchecked, Tabular Format checked. Result = Excel document with merged columns[/li]

[li]Scheduled a report to format Excel with both options unchecked. Result = Excel document with merged columns[/li]

[li]Scheduled an report that is formatted for Excel in Crystal Reports format and then used the export option in the ActiveX Viewer to export to Excel. Result = Excel document with merged columns[/li][/ol]As you can see, I've only been able to get decent Excel results in one of many tested scenarios.

Have you applied the most recent Export Patch from the web site? We also had the problem you mentioned until we did so.

I installed DBEXDRVR this morning. The documentation regarding the Excel fix specifically states that the fix (a registry key is supposed to be created) is for CE 80, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Not only does the fix not work (at least for me, the registry key wasn't created), but now I receive intermittent error messages (that's right, not every time, just enough to be irritating) when I attempt to export to Excel from the ActiveX viewer. Following is the error message:

The export format 'u2fxls:9' is not supported.
