Hi,

I have an existing report that has been running for a quite a while. I created it using the 8.5 version but lately everytime we export the result to an Excel 8.0(Extended) the dates and number formated column is returned in the excel as "######" with a strange value.

I tried suppressing it when the year value is equal to 0 (as instructed by Business Objects) but it does not correct the issue. However if I tried it several times it will show the correct date value.

Need Help.

The problem is that Excel is a bad data source.

What is occurring is that Ecel makes an assumption about the data type based on the 1st row in the worksheet. Note that if you open it and insert a row above the current 1st row, and then explicitly palce valid datatypes in there, it will allow you to format columns to the correct type.

Your best solution is to make sure that the first row demonstrates the proper data types, or export to a different format that will observe explicitly stated data types.

Last year, there was a change in Crystal 8.5 that improved it a great deal. Since your export-choice says Excel Extended rather than MS Excel 97, an update should make it quite a bit better.
