I have tried saving the results of a report to an .xls file as well as exporting the results to the application. For some reason once the file is open in Excel ( 2007 ) I cannot filter or sort ( grayed out).

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas what might be going on.

hi,

If you're saving the report as an .xls, and opening it in Excel 2007, then you might have a compatability issue, as an .xls file is a 97-2003 version.

I routinely export to excel with the 97-2003 (xls) format and am able to open it in 2007.....

has someone PROTECTED the sheet?

BTW, I almost ALWAYS export a report as a .csv text file and then IMPORT into Excel (NEVER, NEVER, NEVER open a .csv text file directly via Excel, as Excel can and will ACTUALLY CHANGE SOME DATA, if you do not control the import conversion process).
