Hi all,

I am new to Veritas Backup Exec 9.1.
I need to know how I can easily identify the media that my backup jobs are written to.

Ex. I just did a custom backup job for a server we are retiring. I used the same media sets we currently have in place, and was hoping to export the backup media from that job to have them sent offsite for long term storage.

When I look at the media information, it tells me the number of one of the tapes, but there has to be more tapes than that, since there was over 200GB of data written to 50GB native tape.

THe backup log (*.xml) is almost 40MB in size, and takes forever to open. Then I would do a search for "Media number" through out the entire file, if it opens up.

There has to be an easier way.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
David

You can try the reports tab in backup exec but no you must look at the job log. Open the job log an expand it and search for "media label" and it will find all the tapes used.
Try lowering the amount of job detail logging and the file would be smaller.
