exporting large report (170 column) to excel

i have a 170+ column report in cr. when i export it to excel, after about column 75 the data is out of order (column headings are in correct order, but data is not) and each time i export it, the "out of order" section is out of order in a different way.

the fields being exported are group and report level summary fields (detail is suppressed). the report has only one level of grouping.

my data is on a fully patched/service packed sql server. (and the data looks good on the server by the way)

have i exceeded crystal's (i'm using 9.2 professional) export ability or excel's import (excel 2002)?

anyone have any ideas?
