I'm facing a strange exporting issue to MS-Excel 2003 using MS-Access 2000.I've a report developed using MS-Access.For some strange reason when ever I export the report which does have account numbers 0000E49921,0000E10563,0000E94230 it is not displaying these numbers to excel 2003 instead it shows as 0(zero).When I export the report to .html or .rtf or .txt the account number is displayed correctly. Can anyone throw light why this is happening ? Appreciate all help.

Thank you...

Firstly.
Have you checked the formatting for those columns in excel to see it the data is coming across, but just appears to be zero.

If the data is coming across there are automation methods for formatting the spreadsheet.

Secondly, if the data is not coming across, there could be something wrong with the report output method. How our you exporting the data to excel?

cheers

Hi,

This is an example of Excel trying to be helpful.

0000E49921 looks to Excel like scientific notation, so Excel converts this STRING to a NUMBER.

Other similar examples include...
[tt]
9: is interpreted to be TIME and is so converted
1/7 is interpreted to be DATE and is so converted
[/tt]
In order to conpensate for this helpfulness, prepend an APOSTROPHY to the values in this field, and Excel will interpret these as LABELS which are TEXT.

Skip,

[glasses]Just traded in my old subtlety...
for a NUANCE![tongue]
