All my reports exports fine in Word, Excel, Text, and PDF format. I have one report that fails only in Text format. It still exports with header. What in the world is happening here?

Thanks.

Are any portions of the report suppressed? What does the layout look like? Do you have data in the details section only? What version of Crystal? Have you tried applying the latest export\db dlls? (Can be downloaded from Crystal's website)

jdemmi,

To answer to your questions...
Are any portions of the report suppressed?
: Header a is suppressed when page = 1 and Group Header #1.

What does the layout look like?
:It has Report Header, Page Header a, Page Header b, Page Header c, Page Header d, Group Header #1 (Suppressed), Details a, Details b, Group Footer #1a, Group Footer #1b, Group Footer #1c, Report Footer a, Report Footer b, Page Footer.

Do you have data in the details section only?
: Well, it has Date on Report Header, and some more dates on Page Header a, some other data on Group Footer #1b, and Report Footer b.

What version of Crystal?
:8.5.0.217

Have you tried applying the latest export\db dlls? (Can be downloaded from Crystal's website)
: I don't think so...

I am going to try to change some of the layout and see if that makes a difference... In the mean while, please let me know if you see anything or have any other questions...

Thanks.

I suspect that is is related to the layout. Try removing the supression of the header, just as a test.

Tried to take the supression out from the header but didn't make any difference. I am just going to change the report layout one by one and see what difference it makes. It's painful but I agree with you that the problem must be layout related...

I agree. Sorry I could not be of more help. But can you do us all a favor and let us know what this problem is when you fix it?

Thanks! And Good Luck!

Ok jdemmi,

Let me spill out the secret. I had to go into the operating system and fix.....just kidding.

I copied the report that has the problem. Renamed it..then reloaded it (there is a third party product we use. It requires different steps to load the report to work with other application.) and reran the report. It works fine now...

I am guessing some invalid character had to have gotten stuck inbetween somewhere along the process for text export to go haywired...

Reboot, seems to be always the last and best solution!!
