hi there,
I am trying to export a lot (I mean a lot!) of unformatted data from word and place it in excel in the correct columns. An example of the word doc is as such:

ART - DRAWING & PAINTING - BEGINNERS – GO104
This two term course will be of interest to students who wish to begin drawing and painting for the first time or who would like to rekindle dormant skills.
BRYAN McDONALD - Fee: $82.00
TAMPLETON COMMUNITY COLLEGE - Room 32
Monday 7.30p.m. 9.30p.m. - 20 weeks from 24 SEP 2001

Ideally, the course name, description, code and tutor would all be inseperate columns.
Any help much appreciated

Slinky

The data conversion is entirely dependent on the consistancy of the Word document.

Export the file into Excel, then play around with
=LEFT(A1,#)
=RIGHT(A1,#)
=MID(A1,#1,#2)

It's always a good idea to add a column with the original sort order, i.e. as the data came from Word. Often the data you wish to parse or convert has 3 or 4 different patterns. When you sort, each pattern will be grouped together, and can be handled with a slightly different formula. When finished with the formulas, use the orginal sort column to reassemble the data back together.
