Hi- Have an interesting problem - would like to see if anyone has experienced this before. Here are the details:
He is unable to export to any supported application (specifc error messages below)
* His computer configuration is no different from any of our other Desktop Users. WINNT 4.0 SP 4.
* Un-install/re-install MicroStrategy Desktop. Did that, but it did not fix the issue.
* We also un-installed/re-installed Office 97. All MS patches up to date.
* Using the MicroStrategy Web application, he IS able to export successfully.

Specific error messages when attempting export:

* Excel: File not found
* Word: Object variable or With block variable not set
* Access, Text, PDF, or HTML: Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface.

Anyone ever seen this before? suggestions appreciated!

how much memory do you have in the machine where Desktop is installed???

Other applications are running???

There is a gig or RAM installed, and yes - there are other APP's running. But other users have the same configuration with no problem...

those error messages could indicate that some dll wasn't registered properly. i would uninstall all MSTR, reboot, reinstall mstr, than reboot. Then try the report again.

This is why I hate client server...

If you uninstall and re-install MSTR, also re-apply NT SP4. In theory, this should not matter, but in practice NT is prone to loosing expected DLL versions during an uninstall.

Also, look at MDAC levels, as this could also be an issue. If all else fails, reformat the disk and re-install NT.
