Is there a function to export Great plains customer account (or any other data also) data to a tab delimited file?

We have merged with another company using Great PLains and they want to move over to our vertical market software. I need a way to read the files to merge customers and so forth. ODBC might be an option also.

What version of GreatPlains and is it on SQL?

If you tell me the fields that you want I can tell you the tables that the information is on.

You could just use Smartlist > Customers, select all the fields you want, then export to excel, file > Save as > Tab deliminated. Easy, with no coding required.

YOu can also export vendors, receivables, GL, payables, anything.

Right now, I've not been on the software other than to see people using it. It is on SQL though. If I can select the fields and save as Luvsql has stated, this will be great.

Thanks!

I have a suggestion for you.

Add ShowAdvancedMacroMenu=TRUE into the Dex.ini and then launch Great Plains.

Go to Tools >> Macro >> Advanced >> Table Dump.

Select the product and table and choose your options and export away.

Have fun.

This will only allow you to dump one table at a time. In Smartlist, it has multiple tables linked (ie the Customer list in Smartlist is actually multiple tables linked together and the receivables transactions contains the RM Work, RM Open and the RM HIstory table). As well, Smartlist will allow you to restrict your data, so that you don't have to dump out the entire table, in order to make your result sets exactly what you need.
