In our database, we track employee names, id's, etc and are looking into exporting this information to a file called employee.xxx. The .xxx filetype is what's used by our CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing) software. Basically, by exporting the data from our database to this file, we save ourselves from having to manually recreate this information a second time in the CATI program.

I have had no problem exporting the data and formating it the way our CATI program needs, however, I can't figure out how to export data to a filetype other than the preselected drop downs like text file, excel spreadsheet, etc.

Anybody have any ideas?

Gaffi1,
why not export the data to a text file using a macro or vba then use a dos .bat job (called from access 'shell' command) to rename. or did you try saveas?

You may also consider the "Name oldpathname As newpathname" VBA instruction.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Both ideas sound great, but my programming experience is limited. What would I need to do to cal the .bat file from the access shell, and what is the VBA code to rename an old pathname to a new pathname? Thanks for your help.

Just as I posted:
Name oldpathname As newpathname
