Hi,
Using Crystal 11.5, I have a Crystal Report with many columns.. I used to have a fix for how to export this report to Excel to contain all the columns, by setting default printer, etc, but am struggling.. How do I go about setting the printer to be basically unlimited width, so I can export this into Excel?
I do not need to print it at all.

Thanks

Hi,

The printer has nothing to do with exporting data to Excel!

The limit is the maximum number of columns in YOUR VERSION of Excel.

What version are exporting to?

Skip,

[glasses]Just traded in my OLD subtlety...
for a NUance![tongue]

I'm running office 2010, but I don't see what that has to do with it... I can't extend the Crystal Report wide enough so I can add the columns I need to.... The width of my Crystal screen changes as I change my printer settings.. I just can't seem to make it wide enough to fit all my columns (even before I export to Excel), if that makes sense...

Under File -->Page Setup, you can simply change the orientation to Landscape. Or
Change Size to 11 x 17 or Legal.

Thanks Betty, but that doesn't cut it for me... Need a heck of a lot wider than 11X17...

Disassociate the printer from the report (I think you can do that 11.5). Then you should be able to set any paper size. Since you are exporting to Excel. Also if you are just exporting the data, you can make the columns super small and they will be bigger when you export (it may be unreadable if you view it in Crystal).

You can create a new printer using one of the plotter drivers available in windows. This will add some really big pages. You can create also a custom page for a one of the existing printers , but this will be confusing if you are using the printer for real printing. Another option, If the report is just for export, is to make the columns really small in order to fit on the page and after the report is exported you can autosize the columns in the excel file.
If all of this doesn't work for you you can try our free Community edition . It will allow you to export the data directly to excel without formatting it to a page. You can see how this works in the video at the bottom of this page:

Viewer and Scheduler for Crystal reports, SSRS and Dynamic Dashboards.
