Exporting contacts from ACT: keep losing blank fields

I've saved a mappping file. When I click on "Load Map" in this screen:

and try to load my mapping file back in, all of the strategically placed empty columns I inserted (via the "Insert field" button) were removed!

I need to leave empty columns/fields for placeholders for the application to which I am importing these contacts. Is there a way to preserve my empty fields within the map file?

As there are changes with different versions... which version of ACT! are you using?

I don't think there would be an option to do that.

You could always create some blank, 1 char fields in the database so you can use them
