Exporting AVI to Quicktime - Loss of audio in Premiere 6

Does anyone have any ideas as to why avi's lose audio when exporting to quicktime in Adobe Premiere 6? I have tried using different codecs such as planet RGB, Indeo, Cinepak without success. The avi's where originally compressed using Divx5...

Download a program called VirtualDub. Export an Audio stream from the AVI. Then import both the aVI and the new wav file . See if that works.
