exporting an image from Illustrator to Flash

I have created a graphic in Illustrator and now want to put it in flash and make the empty areas in my Illustrator image to be transparent how do I do this.

i think u export the image as a .swf
found in export settings

Just save as an .ai

In Flash go to File>Import and it will import the transparency just fine. (note: if you are using Flash 5, your .ai needs to be saved as an older version, say version 6 to be safe, I assume Flash MX would import AI10 fine)
