Exporting a psd file to a gif or jpeg

I am opening a .psd file in Fireworks MX and then doing nothing to the file and trying to export it to a gif or a jpeg and am getting a message stating:

Could not export the file.
The file could not be found.

What am I doing wrong here?

Any help appreciated.

It looks like the problem I am having is exporting to a network drive - can do it to C:\ fine but not to any network drives.

Anyone know of a way around this?
