When I try to export our Sidekick 99 Skcard fil to a txt or csv file, the program omits data from different fileds for different contacts.

It might omit the address info for Contact 1 but include the Home Phone, and it will omit the Misc. Data info for Contact 2 but it will have the address info correct.

I can find no pattern or consistency for this.

We are changing to XP soon, but I don't want to make that change without exporting files because I have heard about so many problems getting Sidekick to run in XP.

Thank you,

Don

Dear consumersupporter,
Just a quick suggestion, save your cardfile under a new name so that the original is intact then
rename all the fields in the renamed cardfile so that they do not have any spaces or reserved characters in them.

Reserved characters are things like
: ~ # & % / - commas or full stops
Or in fact anything that
Windows/Access/Excel/etc or the database program you are exporting to will not usually accept in a File name
+ do not have any Auto inserted data in any fields
i.e. if you name a cardfile Field
City:New York
When you add a card through the
Add File Dialog Sidekick will automatically insert the value
'New York' in the City field.
So leave no spaces too.

(Sidekick is very forgiving in that respect but .csv or Tab Delimited .txt files can have a problem.
Set the Field type if importing into Access or a similar type of program is set to Memo for fields with A LOT OF DATA.)

Export the Cardfile to
Tab Delimited Text .txt and then
re-import it.
Check back when you have done that.
Another thing there is a limit of so many fields you can export (Check HELP in Sidekick) or/and the FAQ's at Starfish or/and read the Manual, just in case I have missed something obvious.
