Exported PDF (landscape) loses data on right side when printing PDF

We have a Crystal Report (v9) that was exported to PDF on a machine with Adobe Acrobat 6.0.

We open the report on a machine with Crystal Reports (v9) developer and Adobe Acrobat 5.1. When we print the report to any printer (regardless of printer) from this machine, the report 'loses' about 1.5" of data on the right side of the report. It appears as though it is attempting to print because we see ink marks where there should be data, but it then doesn't print.

If we open this PDF report on a machine with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or 7.0, the report prints all the data. We don't lose any data.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Did you just upgrade Adobe Acrobat reader to correct the issue? or did you do something else? Thank you.

How can a report be opened by Crystal and Acrobat? They are 2 different formats, and which program you're printing from needs to be identified.

"We open the report on a machine with Crystal Reports (v9) developer and Adobe Acrobat 5.1."

Do you mean that you open it in CR 9, export to PDF and then print, or???

Exporting is always a dodgy proposition, and keep in mind that Crystal is based on the printer being used, so try to set up the next machine to have the same printer being used during the export. This is true of most Windows programs, not just Crystal.

That does sound confusing. Let me try to clarify...

The landscape report was run in Crystal Reports and then exported from Crystal Reports to a PDF file. The PC that the export was done from has version 6.0 of Adobe Acrobat reader. (I add this bit of information as I don't know if this affects how the exported PDF is built.)

The PDF (exported report) was then opened on a different PC. This PC has Adobe Acrobat 5.1 installed on it (an older version of Adobe than what is on the PC where the PDF was created). This is where we experience the problem of 'losing' data on the pdf file/report when it prints.

These PCs are in two different locations...one is on the west coast, one on the east coast (the pdf was emailed from west to east for review). So using the same printer/driver will be difficult.

We might try to upgrade the adobe reader on the 5.1 machine to see if this helps, but if you have other suggestions, we'll look at that too.

Thank you.

When opening the pdf in Acrobat 5.1 the document is not truncated? Only when you print it is truncated?

Check if the fit to page property it turned on in the Acrobat reader.

In case you are wondering about this: the version of Acrobat reader has absolutely no impact on how the Crystal report gets exported to pdf. Only the Printer driver can impact that aspect.
