Export user

hi all,

It's possible to export all users from aix 4.3.3 to aix 5.2.0.4 ?


The risc with oslevel 4.3.3 is still in production and will be replaced with e new risc oslevel 5.2.0.4 .

Before replace the old risc , is my intention to clone it and so to reduce the problemes.

Have you thought about taking a mksysb of the 4.3.3 system, then rebuilding the new 6000 with the old mksysb? You could then upgrade from 4.3.3 to 5.2. You'd definately have a clone then.

I work in outsourcing , and for vendor's contract and guarantee is not possible to do your suggestion.

Other way ?

I guess you're probably going to have to script it. Export all the users and groups with lsgroup and lsuser and create a script to create users and groups from the exports lists.

I don't think you can just move /etc/passwd /etc/user /etc/group ......
