I need to move a universe from a test business objects server to a production server.
I have read this thread thread782-1051638 and gotten a bit of guidance from another admin here, but I would like to know a couple of things:

what is the preferred method of moving a universe from one cms to another?
a step-by-step would be great, I have looked around and not really found anything specific on this.

is 'exporting' really the way to bring a .unv file into a cms? Seems like 'import' would be the better term...

Thanks!

Thank you, I appreciate the info.
Although I might attempt an import in the future, what I did the other day, successfully, was:

open designer on prod server.
log into prod server.
file>open .unv file.
got message that 'connection is unavailable'
took me a while to find this:
file>parameters , selected a connection from the list
on the prod server.
Saved and then Exported:
File>export
Selected universe folder (aka domain?)
selected administrators and other groups
selected .unv file from where I had it stored in file system. This overwrote the existing universe of the same name in that boe folder.
