I want to use DTS to export data to an excel file that will be used to create an invoice but for the life of me i can't seem to be able to assign values from the query to cells in excel can anyone tell me how this is done

I know i didn't mention it but this is an SQL Server 2000 database

Rather than use the DTS to create the Excel file (it will, but it's ugly), create a tab delimited text file, then write a macro to pull it into your invoice spreadsheet.

Or you can link to the SQL tables in Access and visually create the invoice using an Access report. Crystal Reports is good for this sort of thing as well.
