Hi

I have a report which I want in Excel with the formatting that I have in Impromptu (i.e. groupings). This report has just over 34,000 rows but when I export to Excel it spreads itself over 3 sheets with only 16,384 rows on each sheet. Anybody know why it doesn't put it all into the one sheet? It's Imp 7.1, Excel 2003.

Thanks

navshiv,
I can't be 100% certain, but I suspect it's due to the fact that the relevant part of the rendering engine has not been updated by Cognos from the capacity of Excel 5.0/95. This will undoubtably be justified with an explanation of ensuring compatibility with older versions of Excel. Shame that it hasn't been included in a parameter setting in the function, but there we go...

You could get around the issue by calling Excel later in the Cognos macro and concatenating the two sheets. Otherwise you're stuck with a csv export [sad]

Oh, BTW, it's also the same in ImpAdmin 7.4 (.774).

I haven't yet upgraded to 7.4 MR1, but I can't see any mention of an increase in maximum row capacity in the change list.

drlex,

thanks for the info. fortunately the user has changed their requirements (which normally annoys me!) so the number of rows has reduced significantly.

Good job really as I don't think csv would have given the correct figures as all the groupings and summaries would have been lost.
