OK, stupid question time...
i have a dts package that NORMALLY exports one row of data into excel and appends this to an existing set of data. this is run daily for the previous days data. i was wondering whether it is possible to get the job to look at the last row of data in Excel to pick up a date and run the sql query for all dates after the existing one. Does that make sense?

Cheers, Craig

Off the top of my head, you could import the Excel spreadsheet into a predefined table with an identity field, and read the appropriate date field value for the appropriate record in that table, (WHERE IdentityField=Max(IdentityField)), so yes it is possible.

"There are some oddities in the perspective with which we see the world. The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas-covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be"
