export to AVI with an mp3 codec for sound

I never succeeded to export my timeline into an AVI clip with an mp3 compressed audio track.
The problem is that I have no "MP3 CODEC" appearing in my list of audio CODECS (drop down box in export properties). Any idea how to have an MP3 CODEC appearing in this list ?

I know there is a workaround by first creating an AVI file with no compressed audio in Adobe, and then create a new file with compressed audio using VirtualDub, but I would like to be able to do it directly from Adobe Premiere, to avoid the duplication of AVI files...

Any suggestion is welcome ! [bigears]
