does anyone have an idea how to export to foxpro 2.5 or earlier from access 2000. have to go to 2.5 or earlier for a program i need to update. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,

If you can get your hands on Access 97 you can go directly to FoxPro by exporting as a dbase V file

In Access 2000,you can export as dbase V, however character fields come over with length 254 and numeric fields all come with 5 (?) decimal places. This will however give you a FoxPro dbf and you can modify the structure.

What I have used in the past is export the Access file as a text file delimited with comma's. You can then create the your FoxPro dbf structure and append from the text file.

Either way you have some work to do.

Hope this helps,

Ed

I would also like to know this with one caveat. How do you conver MS Access to Foxpro without owning MS Access software? Does anyone have a routine that can do this?

You could do this if you have Visual FoxPro installed - just use the Access/Jet ODBC drivers to load the data into VFP tables and then copy them back out as FP2X type .DBFs.

If you have no VFP, then consider getting a data conversion program like DATA JUNCTION (
