I have recently installed a new system application for a company (uses CR 8.5 viewer). Whereever I call the CR viewer, I include the export button.

I was expecting that the list selection would always include pdf, excel, etc. as it does on my dev machine. However, I'm finding that different users have different options available to them.

I'm supposing that this is a driver issue.

How do I get each user set up the same, in particular with pdf export abilities??

Thanks!

Mike

The export options are controlled by the U2*.dll, where * is an abbreviation of the application to export to. (u2fword.dll = word). Windows 95, 98, Me, and NT have a limit to the number of DLLs which can be staticaly loaded, so sometimes (depending on what other applications are opened) the same user will see "different" export options. So what you want to do is:

1. Remove all unnecessary export DLL's (the ones you think you will never use.
2. Make sure these exist on the machines (in the crystal folder) of those users whoch will be exporting

(These are ususally in C:\windows\crystal, c:winnt\crystal. Where windows or winnt is the install directory of the OS)

Thanks jdemmi,

Do they need to be registered? When you say remove, just delete them, or unregister them?

-Mike

They don't need to be registerd, but the folder they are in does need to be in the PATH statement. The "un-used" ones can just be deleted. (Althought you may want to save a copy of them somewhere. There used to be a good document on Crystal's website about this, but I lost the URL

Thanks again.

Well, I guess I have another question on this. I did a search on my dev machine and see a lot of u2*.dll files. Do you know which would be for pdf? None of the 23 files it found have pdf, adobe, or the like in their names.

Thank you!

For my users w/o CR istalled, just the viewer control, any idea where I can put this crxf_pdf.dll so they can have the cr viewer export support for pdf?

The readme file says to put it in the %sysroot%\crystal directory. But none of my system clients have this directory -- CR is not installed on their systems, just the appropriate CR controls needed for my system.

Thx, -mike
