Hello,

we backup the database (1) using rman storing the catalog informations within the controlfile (no catalog database is used).

Now, I want to restore the database to our testsystem (2) with a different system/db ID.
To perform this, I need to add the rman catalog informations about the existing backups of db (1) to the rman catalog of db (2).

How can I export/import the catalog data between the two controlfiles?

Thanks.

Michael

Restore the controlfile first and you can restore the data "nocatalog" ... or register new database and catalog the backups.

The cleanest way to do this is with the rman "duplicate database" command. That allows you to run an rman session connected to both the source database and destination database and eliminates the need to copy backup information to the rman catalog.
