export from Access to excel not working

Since installing the latest update for Windows 7, 4041681, the code to export an Access query to Excel is not working. The error message is "Unexpected error from external database driver (1)". Whilst I can fix it on my PC by uninstalling the update, I can't do that on the client's network. Is Microsoft bringing out a fix or how can I fix it myself?
