In Access 2003 when you manually import or export a text file under the advanced button in the wizard you can save a specification. Tip, copy the name of the specification before saving it otherwise you might have to return to the wizard to remember it...
I have created an export specification with semi colons as the delimiter.
If the output file has the csv extension, it goes out as an excel csv, with commas as the delimiter.
If it goes out as .txt the file is listed correctly.
Does the csv extension ignore the export spec??
I'm not sure what difference the extension would make. You could use the txt extension and then rename the file if you can't get the semi colons to stick with the csv.
When I export my semi colon delimited file as .txt, it opens in notepad...
When I export it as .CSV, it opens as an excel CSV file in a spreadsheet, and shows the data delimited with a comma. However if I copy the contents of the spreadsheet to notepad, it shows the data delimited with a semi colon.
