Hi,
I'm using CR8.5 and have a list of work orders. I've set a conditional format so the background color is Yellow if the first three characters in the description = "T&M". When I export to Excel, the yellow background color disappears. Is there a way to have the background attributes carry over to the spreadsheet?

Thanks

No there is not. Sorry.

My standard question when anyone wants to export to excel:

Why?

What ever the answer to that question is, there is a way to address this within Crystal Reports. I NEVER export to excel, even if my client wants to. I talk them out of it. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

We download data from an Oracle database (do not have rights to change the data in Oracle) and I need to send an electronic file that the finanacial types can massage. The delivery requirement to the government is an Excel file. The co. has 1 copy of CR and I'm the designated report generator. If there's a better way, I'd like to hear about it. Why don't you like Excel? Thanks

If you desire to only want to highlight the data, you could conditionally format the font color to change if the T&M is present. Excel will keep the color of the font. Mike

mholstro-

Why do the financial types like to massage it? This is where I was heading. I have nothing against excel, I use it everyday, but Crystal's export to excel is never very pretty, and 98% of the time once it gets to excel people do all kinds of things in excel that Crystal could do for them.

Financial types are not the easiest to work with (I know, I used to be one!) but I would try to find out what they are doing with it once it gets to excel. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

We use the govt system for most of our financial (hrs & materials) for "unscheduled" work we do for them. The system works great IF no one makes a mistake and they enter the data exactly as the software expects (we all know how probable that is). So our invoice is adjusted to reflect reality. Also the GM may decide not to bill a particular job for one reason or another.

All this may not make much sense, but after working under contract to the govt for a long time, I'm no longer fazed. You do it becasue that's the way they want it done. <g>

Great hint; the customer is happy with a red font instead of a yellow background, and that automation works. Thanks to all.
