I'm needing to export a report as CSV for further processing. I had the dates set up with leading zeros, but exporting it to Excel caused these to be suppressed. This was the wrong format for further processing by one of our in-house systems.
I knew I could get round this by exporting the file directly, but this was inconvenient. So I went to a file display and chose Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Changed the CSV default from Excel to Text. Gratifyingly, Crystal now chooses Text for these cases.
This was Windows XP Professional. I've seen other people mention the default as a problem, so I thought the method worth sharing.
PS. I've not checked whether Crystal will restore the old default next time I try. I'll let you know if it does.
