Something changed when we upgraded from 8.5 to Crystal 9.0. When the option to export into MS Word is selected, the document exports fine, but when its opened in Word it has frames around each field. It used to just be text and was editable. When I remove these 'frame boxes' the document loses all of its formatting. Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, it is normal, and would have applied even in 8.5 if you had had the latest updates.
Try [Search] to see what's already been written on the topic: there are ways round if you must stick with MS Word.
Exporting to Excel has its points, depending on what you are doing. You can also cut-and-paste from Excel to Word, where it comes out as a word table, quite convenient.
