I've been tasked to create an Access database for our marketing department using the contact information they have in Goldmine. I'm working off-site so I can't look at their application. Can anyone tell me how to instruct the user to export their contact information from Goldmine into an Excel spreadsheet so I can import it to my Access database? Ann

sure, tell them to select (from the main menu)

Tools | Import/Export Wizard | Export Contact Records

the rest is a wizard, pretty straight forward, there isn't an option for excel, but one of the other formats should work.

Dave, thanks for your response. Do you have the application at hand? If so, could I trouble you to tell me what formats are available? I'd like to be able to give my user concrete instructions on what I want her to do.

Thanks again.

Ann,

DBF - dBase which is probably your best bet.
ASCII - CSV file
SDF - Space Delimitered file.

If they have GM 6 then theres also XML - but its scary so stay away from that.

Regards,

Richard.
