explorer view problem intermittently in site structure

The explorer view is not working in one of my 2007 sites, but one of its subsites does work, while another does not:
NOT WORKING
WORKS
NOT WORKING

There is no error message and the length of the path is not too long (based on other info I have seen). I've tried to compare settings of the subsites and didn't note any differences regarding the explorer view.

At least one of these sites had some view problems after it was migrated from 2003 about 7 months ago, but I'm not sure about the other.

Is there a way to "reset" an explorer view for a site? Ideas on what else I can look for?
