Help!! I just upgraded to Internet Explorer 5.5 and now I continuously get error messages saying "Explorer.exe This program has performed an illegal operation." Under details it states WEBCHECK.DLL has improperly accessed memory." This happens both when I'm on line and when I'm not--both when Internet Explorer is open and when it is not. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I solved my own problem.

I had previuosly reinstalled Windows 98 at the suggestion of Microsoft Tech Support. I had not yet downloaded and reinstalled Internet Explorer 5.5 and Tools. Reinstalling from the old WIN98 CD replaced webcheck.dll with an older version that in the IE 5.5 download.

When I tried to uninstall IE 5.5 through Control Panel>Remove Software, a screen asking if I wanted to repair IE came up (apparently you can't just uninstall this software). I clicked on yes. It then popped up with a screen saying IE couldn't be repaired--that I needed to reinstall. Under Details, it said webcheck.dll was corrupted.

I just finished reinstalling IE 5.5. So far, no error messages.
