In windows explorer (not internet explorer), the user can define which file attributes are displayed - such as size, type, Date Modified, Artist, etc.

When a new folder is created, it defaults to a display of a certain set of attributes.

How can you change the default set of attributes?

For example, every time I create a new folder, it displays Artist, Album, and Year as the set of attributes. How can I eliminate these attributes and add others (such as modified date) by default. I do not want to have to reset each folder manually.

Change one folder to view it the way that you want and then go Tools ->Folder Options and on the View Tab click "Apply to All Folders" (or something similar, I don't have XP available to me at the moment).

Hope this helps.
