I'm getting the following error:

The instruction at "0x10038a53" referenced memory at "0x10038a.53". the memory could not be "read".

(the reference number is different each time)

once I click "OK" it reboots. How do I fix this problem? If I end task explorer.exe in the running processes, would that help? I am currently using Avant browser. My OS is Windows 2000 professional. I use AdAware and Xoftspy.

If you end task Explorer in Task Manager you have no desktop.

See faq6008-4650
Most cases are malware of some kind.
