I would appreciate the forum's help/advice on the following problem I keep experiencing with Windows 98 (second edition) - If I click on "My Computer" and "right-click" on my C: (hard drive) or my A: (floppy drive) icons, or those same icons on my desktop, say to check my amount of free space or the drives Properties, I receive the following warning/error -

EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in
module SHELL32.DLL at 0167:7fcc5668.

Can this problem be fixed?

I would try just reinstalling your windows operating system. Sounds like explorer may have somehow been corrupted. Just reinstalling, you won't loose anything on your system, it will just in essence repair crucial system files.
>Just get into windows
>put in your Win98se disk & hold down shift to override the autoplay
>then click start
>go to run & type in x:setup.exe or x:install.exe (x being your cd-rom drive label, usually it's d:)

Hope this works for ya.

Try this!!!!!!!! Rename your applog folder in C:\windows folder to something else....

Before you re-install, try this:

Start > Run then type SFC

This runs the System File Checker and, with any luck, you'll find some corrupt files that you can replace from your CD.

Have you tryed to restore the SHELL32.dll File ?

You can find on the Win98 CD, chek and compare the Size of the files, if there is any difference, restore with the CD File.

Good Luck !!!
