Greetings
OS=w2k and iexplorer 6.
We have an application that displays results in HTML. Explorer encoding is set on each computer for optimal viewing.
However, users inevitably then access Russian or Japanese sites etc which can automatically change encoding. Original application results are then displayed in gibberish.
How do we lock the encoding so it can't be changed?
Thanx

In the Internet Options settings, on the Connections tab and under LAN Settings there is a checkbox for 'use automatic configuration script'. Here you can specify the URL of a config file that gets loaded whenever IE starts. Settings in this file will override any settings that the user changed during their last session (unless they disable the loading of the auto config script).

The script itself should be an 'ins' file - an 'internet communication settings' file. This is just a text file. I can't help you with the syntax but I'm sure you can find it if you search on-line.
