Explorer 5.5 freezing

Whenever I browse some large pictures online, after about the fourth or fifth picture displays, the machine will slow to a complete crawl (for example, if you right click on the desktop, it takes about 30 seconds to a minute for the menu to display) and then it just freezes.The mouse pointer moves around just fine, but there is no response from mouse clicks.I can also use CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot while everything is frozen.I'm running Win98SE on a PIII800EB, Asus CUSL2 motherboard, and I just upgraded to Explorer 5.5. Explorer's repair tool didn't fix it, of course.Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
I just thought of a few other things. I'm running into the problem while trying to find some desktop wallpaper online. The bigger the file, the faster it crashes, and the crash is accompanied by some really messed up graphics layering. System File Checker found a file called setupx.dll (I think) that it says is
