Recently we changed our small LAN of 3 PC’s to wireless. When trying to explore drives on the network I get mostly old drive names which have been superseded or renamed some time ago. What is the secret, how can I flash the memory settings so that explorer identifies the drives correctly?

Thank you heaps for your help

Launch My Network Places.
View, Details.
Right-click the old shares and delete them.

XP will actually age these on its own over time, but you can affirmatively remove the listing.

In WinXP one can prevent this behavior by changing the following user policy:
Run Gpedit.msc using "Start Button" -> "Run..."
In the Console Window go to this folder "User Configuration" -> "Administrative Templates" -> "Start Menu and Taskbar"
Go to the entry "Do not add shares of recently used documents to Network Places" and double click it and set to "Enabled"
It is the same as setting this DWORD registry key :

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Policies \Explorer]
NoRecentDocsNetHood = 1 (Default = 0)
