explanation required on Distributed Voicemail

Hi All.

I am going for my ACSS and an online practice question I found said that Distributed Voicemail requires

SMTP unblocked and
IIS.

When I go through the help files or a google search I can't find a good explanation. Can anyone explain this to me? Or point me to an Avaya Document link that works?

It uses the SMTP feature of IIS to send messages, apparently.

I'm ACSS and never needed to know this

This is because the distributed voicemail service uses ISS SMTP to actually send the data between the servers. This means that there should be an SMTP Sender configured in the VMPro settings.
